Family Visits
The Trust holds several Family Open Days during the year, normally in conjunction with school holidays. These events are an opportunity to visit a working 1930’s fireboat and learn about firefighting on the River Thames. Tours of the vessel are conducted by our volunteers, a number of whom are former serving firefighters who provide a unique insight into how the fires were fought from the boat.
Visitors can try on Firefighting Uniforms, look at the hoses and other equipment used on the boat. Explanations are given as to how a fireboat works, and on special “Pumping days” you can see the fire pumps working. Details of events are published on our website and booking by appointment only- Children must be supervised at all times.
Prices
We try to keep charges affordable, at £14 for two adults and two children (up to 12), or £5 per adult and £3 per child. This includes tea or coffee, soft drinks or water, and biscuits. Additional catering is available at appropriate cost.
