The entrance to West India Dock consists of large white metal gates, located on Manchester Road at the northern end of the Isle of Dogs. It is directly opposite the offices of the Canal and River Trust (postcode: E14 9ST) and immediately south of the Blue Bridge (the lift bridge over the dock entrance).
The easiest access by public transport is by the DLR station at South Quay which is a 5 – 10 minute walk from West India Dock. On arrival at the station, descend to street level (there is a lift if required), cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and go down the steps to the dockside.
Keep the water on your left. Walk along the dockside, keeping the water on your left, and after 200m or so you will see Massey across the dock on your left, moored alongside the steam tug Portwey. This is a good time to phone either the number above, or whatever number you have been given to gain access, so we can meet you at the gate. Follow the dock round and then to the right after the new tower block, to the large white gates. We’ll meet you there.
Buses D6 and D7 also stop nearby.
On satnav, E14 9ST will get you to the Blue Bridge (mentioned above).
Manchester Road is the A1206 and is easily accessible from the A13 via the A1261.
First exit on left after the tunnel (approximately 1km) to roundabout, signed to Isle of Dogs. Take 3rd exit for Isle of Dogs to A1206 Preston’s Road/Manchester Road. Cross Blue Bridge after approx. 1 km. White dock entrance gates are on the right hand side immediately after bridge.

There is a multi story car park nearby called ISLE OF DOGS CAR PARK – SOUTH QUAY (LONDON). There is limited parking available inside the docks for visitors with restricted mobility – please arrange this with us in advance.
