03 Nov Photo of Massey Shaw nominated for award
An amateur photographer has been shortlisted for awards for two pictures he took on the River Thames.
Jason Arthur, 48, submitted two snaps he took in Gravesend near the promenade to a photography competition.
The photographs show the fire boat Massey Shaw going past the Town Pier and the second shows a morning sunrise over the Waverley.
Mr Arthur, who lives near the promenade, had entered the pictures into the National Historic Ships UK’s photography competition and was surprised to receive a letter to say his photographs had been whittled down from thousands of entries and had reached the final stages.
Here is the shortlisted entry:
He has been invited to the competition’s award ceremony which is being held at Trinity House, in Trinity Square, London, on Tuesday, November 13.
Mr Arthur, who regularly takes pictures used in the Gravesend Messenger newspaper, said:
“I was surprised to get through and I will be going up to the awards and I am looking forward to it.”
