As you know we still have one of our main engines in various bits and without it we’re going nowhere!

Now that we have an understanding of what work needs to be done, we’re seeking sponsors for 6 ‘big end bearings’ for the engine pistons.

What work needs doing?

Each big end bearing needs white metalling and re-boring to fit the crankshaft. Unfortunately, this type of work is not something our volunteers can do on board and requires a qualified company to complete. As i’m sure you’re aware, when a professional is needed, they also need paying!

We estimate up to £500 per big end bearing is required to cover the cost of this work and we’re reaching out to our supporters and companies in return for your name on or around the engine block!

We welcome anyone who is interested in sponsoring one of the 6 big end bearings to come and visit Massey and see the engine to ask any questions.
