We were proud to be part of the Lord Mayors Show 2016 and escort the new Lord Mayor up the River Thames with the rest of the flotilla.

Lord Mayors show river flotilla

The original Lord Mayor’s journey was always taken by river. The modern Lord Mayor celebrates that history by travelling to the City in a splendid flotilla of traditional Thames barges and small boats, including the famous QRB Gloriana and fireboat Massey Shaw.

The Lord Mayor will board Gloriana circa 08.30 passing under Vauxhall, Lambeth, Westminster, Waterloo, Blackfriars, London and Tower bridges before finally disembarking at HMS President, just below St Katherine’s dock.

Tower Bridge opens in salute at 09.25 and the new Lord Mayor alights at HMS President ten minutes later.

FLOTILLA TIMETABLE

  • 08:30: Lord Mayor boards QRB Gloriana at Westminster Pier, Victoria Embankment
  • 08:35: Flotilla sets off
  • 09:00 Flotilla reaches Waterloo Bridge
  • 09:20 Flotilla reaches London Bridge
  • 09:25 Tower Bridge opens in salute
  • 09:30 Lord Mayor disembarks at HMS President
